Entrepreneurship Program Development Strategy as an Effort to Empower Elderly Women at the Pejuang Husnul Khatimah Creative Islamic Boarding School

Abstract

Indonesia has entered a phase of aging population, so empowerment programs are needed that can increase the economic independence and welfare of elderly women. This study aims to analyze the strategy of developing an entrepreneurship program as an effort to empower elderly women at the Creative Islamic Boarding School of Pejuang Husnul Khatimah in Bandung City. The study used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Informants were selected purposively, consisting of Islamic boarding school administrators, Muhammadiyah figures, the Head of KMI, academics, the head of the foundation, and male and female students. Data were collected through observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the interactive model of Miles and Huberman with validity tests through triangulation of sources, techniques, and time. The results of the study indicate that the development of the entrepreneurship program is directed through mapping the potential of the elderly, skills training, business mentoring, collaboration with various stakeholders, and strengthening marketing based on religious communities. The program also increases motivation, self-confidence, social participation, and community interest in joining Islamic boarding school activities. The conclusion of the study shows that the entrepreneurship strategy based on religious communities has the potential to become a sustainable model for empowering elderly women if supported by integrated organizational governance, partnerships, and business mentoring.
