Abstract

Rapid digital transformation has intensified the need for elementary schools to strengthen students’ literacy, numeracy, and character through meaningful technology-supported learning. This community service program aimed to improve these competencies through creative and innovative technology-based learning assistance. A participatory educational assistance design with a mixed-methods evaluative approach and a one-group pretest-posttest design was employed. The participants were 30 elementary school students selected through criterion-based participation at a partner school in Pangkalan Balai, South Sumatra, Indonesia. Data were collected using literacy and numeracy assessments, a character observation rubric, structured observation sheets, participant response questionnaires, and facilitator field notes. Quantitative data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, normalized gain, Shapiro-Wilk tests, paired-samples t-tests, and Cohen’s d in IBM SPSS Statistics 25, while qualitative data were analyzed thematically. The results showed significant improvements in literacy, numeracy, and character, with all posttest scores exceeding pretest scores and p < .001. Numeracy showed the largest mean gain and effect size. Classroom observations also indicated stronger participation, collaboration, responsibility, and responsible technology use. The program therefore demonstrated the potential of integrated technology-based assistance to support students’ holistic development.
