Abstract

Community-based tourism villages require the involvement of young people to support the development of local potential and tourism sustainability. However, youth involvement in Sidan Tourism Village is not optimal, especially in the development and decision-making processes. This study aims to determine the forms and types of youth participation in community-based tourism development in Sidan Tourism Village, Gianyar, Bali. The study used a qualitative approach with deductive analysis. The study did not use a population and sample, but involved nine informants selected purposively, consisting of village government officials, young people, and tourism village managers. The research instrument was a semi-structured interview guide, while data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, documentation, and literature review. Data were analyzed descriptively through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing and verifying conclusions. The results of the study identified five forms of participation: ideas, energy, property, skills and expertise, and social. The type of participation was dominated by induced participation, accompanied by spontaneous participation in some forms of involvement. In conclusion, the younger generation has contributed to various tourism activities, but expanding decision-making space and strengthening independent participation are still needed.
